We’re not sure, but it doesn’t seem like the original game Genie Nights is based upon was ever even released. At least our scan cannot find Honolulu Nights in any casinos, and it was pretty much a rip-off of JTG’s Hawaiian Dream anyway. Red Tiger has decided to go for a pure reskin job with this relaunch, instead of taking the opportunity to at least beef up the rather weak math model.

The bikini-clad party girls from the original have been replaced by 3 seductive female lamp genies, like something out of a wet 1001 Nights dream. You get up to 4 respins in the base game, and the final respin has a higher likelihood of triggering tier 1 or 2 of the Wish Bonus Round. Upgrade to the third tier to get indefinite free spins as long as you keep winning, and you can retrigger, downgrade and upgrade the Wish rounds for quite a while many times.

Genie Nights Slot Features

The 3 female genie premium symbols pay between 4 and 20 x your stake for 3 of a kind wins, and there is no wild symbol to help you out in this game. You get plenty of interlocking features and modifiers though, and we’ll take a closer look at them all below.

Landing 3 Respin symbols on a payline awards 0.2x your stake, and then you get a respin. Each respin comes with an increased chance of triggering a new respin, or the Wish Bonus Round, and you can get up to 4 respins at the most.

You trigger the Magic Lamp Bonus when you land a 3x3 sized lamp symbol in the base game, and this awards a random prize between 5x and 50x your stake. It can also trigger 1 of the 3 Wish Bonus Round levels (and these can also trigger organically by landing 3 of the same Wish symbols on a payline):

The Wish Bonus Round - comes with 8 free spins, and you may retrigger or upgrade the feature on the last spin by landing 3 Wish or Great Wish symbols on a payline. Great Wish symbols can sometimes be transformed into Mega Wish symbols to take you directly to that level.

The Great Wish Bonus Round - also comes with 8 free spins, and the last spin may retrigger the feature or upgrade it to the Mega Wish level.

The Mega Wish Bonus Round - you will only land 1x3 sized premium Genie symbols during this feature, and these pay 2, 4 or 6 x your stake. The bonus round goes on as long as you keep winning, and you’re bumped down to the Great Wish tier on a losing spin.

A Nudge feature may trigger on the final spin in all bonus round levels, but only if you don’t win. The nudge will then rearrange things for you, so the losing spin becomes a winner.

It took us a while, but we finally triggered the Wish bonus round at 2:07 into the 6:34-minute highlights video, and we managed to upgrade to the Mega Wish feature on the final spin via the Great Wish symbol transformation.

Review Summary

We’re unsure why Red Tiger has decided to release a reskin of a game that was canceled(?) in the first place, but they have clearly not cared too much about our critique of Honolulu Nights. At least in that game you got to do some serious babewatching in a nice beach setting to keep things interesting, and you do need something to distract you from the tediousness of this convoluted concept.

When you finally trigger either of the Wish bonus rounds, they tend to go on for a good while, as you keep being promoted, retriggered or relegated on the final spin. The seductive female genies do not offer enough of a distraction though, and things get boring rather quickly because of the low payouts and the weak overall 975x potential. Red Tiger had the chance to make some serious changes based on our Honolulu review, and it’s disappointing that they decided to go for a pure reskin job.
