Gold Coin Studios has tried their hand in many different genres already, and Outlaw Saloon is their very first Wild West release. Every developer will end up in the old frontier sooner or later, but this effort doesn’t stand up to scrutiny. It’s like a dressed up wannabe cowboy walking into the roughest saloon in town, only to realize he’s far from as gritty as he thought.

The 3D-rendered characters look dated on closer inspection, and this below what we’ve become used to from this promising developer. The 3 bonus rounds are decent as well, and the same can be said about the 10,000x potential. Still, hardly a convincing wild west debut from the Microgaming partner.

Review Summary

We were not overly impressed by the visuals in this game, and the presentation looks amateurish and primitive on closer inspection. This is below what we have come to expect from this developer, but rookie mistakes are allowed when you’re still fresh in the game. The gameplay failed to engage as well, despite an array of potentially lucrative features.

The paytable info came across as a tad confusing, as there are so many wilds and respins features to keep track of. It boils down to a sticky wild respins feature that can lead to gold bar prizes or help trigger the bonus round. The bonus round gives you 3 options, and we preferred the multiplier option ourselves. The 10,000x potential is decent, but hardly enough to convince us to return for another session.
