Goblin Heist Powernudge Review

We were quite impressed by the first installment in this Pragmatic Play series, Rise of Giza PowerNudge. Not only because of the innovative Powernudge mechanic, but also because of the unusual steampunkish ancient Egypt theme. Goblin Heist Powernudge features an evil thieving goblin set in a fantasy world, but the base game plays out in a very similar fashion thanks to the nudging respins provided by the core mechanic.

The visual presentation is overall engaging, with plenty of animated antics on the reels, and the mischievous goblin stands with an evil grin and a lit dynamite fuse in his backpack on the right-hand side. The Powernudge mechanic provides a break from the base game grind on a regular basis, and the nudging has cleverly been incorporated into the Money Respins bonus round. The 4,000x potential hasn’t changed, and overall we quite enjoyed this sequel.

Goblin Heist Powernudge Slot Features

You win by landing 3-5 symbols on adjacent reels from left to right, but the winning combo can start on any reel. The symbols pay between 1 to 20 x your stake, and all wins trigger the Powernudge feature. All winning symbols nudge one position down after the initial payout, as the non-winning positions respin.

Goblin Heist Powernudge Slot Gameplay

This mechanic goes on as long as you have winning symbols present on the grid.

The Ante Bet feature can be switched on/off between base game spins, and it increases your bet size by 25 %. Turning the ante bet on adds more mystery money symbols to the reel strips, which doubles your bonus game chances. The RTP drops slightly, to 96.44 % with the top-tier setting, if you play with the ante bet turned on.

The Golden Lion Mystery Money symbols can land on all 5 reels, and you need 6 in view at the same time to trigger the Money Respins bonus round. The triggering symbols become sticky on an otherwise cleared grid, and you get a line-up of multipliers starting at x1 above each of the reels. The Mystery Money symbols reveal 1 of 3 symbols as follows:

  • A bet multiplier cash value of 0.1 to 50 x your stake.
  • A local purple multiplier symbol that adds +1, +2 or +3 to the multiplier above its reel.
  • A global blue multiplier symbol that adds +1, +2 or +3 to all the above-reel multipliers.

When the Money Mystery Symbols reveal cash values, the multiplier above the relevant reels will apply to boost the value before it’s added to your total.

The symbols turn into Mystery symbols again after that, and nudge down one position before they once again turn into cash or multiplier symbols. The remaining positions respin at the same time, potentially awarding more mystery symbols, and the feature goes on as long as there are mystery symbols present.

The Money Respins feature can be purchased via the in-game feature, but this option is not available in all jurisdictions (and not in the UK for sure). The bonus buy will set you back 100x your stake, and it comes with an RTP of 96.47 % (which equals the top-tier overall RTP of this game).

The 200 Spins Goblin Heist Powernudge Slot Experience

You get a brief taste of the base game powernudge feature, before we purchase the Money Respins feature. It starts around 40 seconds into the 4:38-minute highlights video, and it plays out for the remainder of the video. We racked up pretty solid multipliers towards the end, which landed us decent back-to-back wins, and you can check it all out by hitting the play button below.

Review Summary

Holding down the space button gives you an excellent turbo spin pace. It’s only broken up by the core Powernudge mechanic, in which things slow down a bit. This is not a problem however, since you get to plow through dead spins and pay attention when potentially larger repeat/improved wins can appear. A fill screen win awards 200x your stake at best though, but with repeat nudging wins it amounts to an okay base game potential.

Of course, you get top-up wins most of the time, and the big difference compared to the previous Rise of Giza PowerNudge, is the bonus round.

Making use of the Powernudge mechanic in a hold-and-win style feature is a clever innovation, not unlike the mechanic itself, and the whole thing builds towards a climactic finish as the reel-multipliers keep building. The 4,000x potential is the same as before, and overall this is a pretty solid follow-up release.

Pros

  • Powernudge respins after each win
  • Wins can start on all reels (left to right)
  • Indefinite Respins Bonus w/ increasing multipliers
  • Win up to 4,000x your stake

Cons

  • Beware of customizable RTP ranges

If you love Goblin Heist Powernudge Slot you should also try:

Rise of Giza PowerNudge - is the futuristic-style ancient Egypt installment where Pramgaitc Play first introduced the Powernudge feature, and it comes with a very similar base game. A progressive multiplier increases by +1 per spin/nudge in the free spins round, and you can win up to 4,000x your stake.

Evil Goblins - comes with perhaps even more mischievous goblins than the game at hand, but they look kind of similar. The goblins hang out on top of the reels, awarding different features, and the xBomb triggers cascades while increasing the multiplier and expanding the grid. You can win up to 31,969x your stake, which is more likely in the 2-level bonus round.

Goblins and Gemstones - is a Kalamba installment featuring far more sophisticated goblins that actually run a bank of sorts. The base game is all about gemstone collection, which eventually triggers the bonus round.
