We were quite impressed by the visual presentation in the original Scarab Kingdom from Just For The Win, and this follow-up release is hardly in the same league. The defining Wild Scrolls feature has been “reversed” in Amazon Kingdom, as the scroll starts on top of the reels and expands downwards instead of starting fully expanded and shrinking.

You can still win up to 5,000x your stake from the bonus pick game, but the feature triggers randomly in this game. In addition to the regular bonus round, collecting free spins symbol pairs will eventually trigger an enhanced super bonus round. It comes with a higher multiplier and 2 guaranteed wild scrolls instead of one. The overall max win is 5,000x your stake, and we hope JFTW does a better job with the visuals next time.

The male and female character symbols can land in sizes up to 1x4, and these are the top-tier symbols that pay 10x your stake for 5 of a kind wins. The medium-value animal symbols pay 2 to 4 x your stake, and Wild symbols substitute for pay symbols to help complete wins. Wilds hold the same value as the top-tier symbols if you land a pure wild win.

All bonus symbols that land are collected in the Bonus Holder above each reel.

You need to collect 3 bonus symbols on a reel to trigger the Wild Scroll feature for that reel, but collecting only 1 bonus symbol may trigger the Queen’s Bonus feature. The Wild Scroll symbol starts at the top of the reel, and it expands downward one position per spin that follows. It’s removed after it has expanded to cover the full reel.

The Queen’s Bonus can trigger at random times when a bonus symbol is collected, and you’ll then get to pick from 12 gold coins. You’ll keep on picking until you’ve matched up 3 cash prize symbols, and you’re thus guaranteed to win 1 of the 4 prizes. They pay 15x, 40x, 200x or 5,000x your stake, respectively.

The free spins symbols can appear on reels 2, 3 and 4 in the base game, and you need 3 in view to trigger the Bonus Round.

All wins are boosted by an x2 multiplier during the feature, and a wild scroll is placed on top of reel 3 for each spin. There is no fixed amount of spins. Instead, the feature goes on as long as there are wild scrolls in view. Any wilds that land create wild scrolls from the position they land at.

Landing only 2 free spins symbols in the base game adds 1 point to the Free Spins Upgrade Meter seen on the right. You need 20 points to fill the meter, and this triggers a Super Free Spins version the next time you land 3 free spins symbols. You then get Wild Scrolls on reels 2 and 4, and the win multiplier is increased to x5.

Review Summary

Amazon Kingdom follows closely in the footsteps of JFTW’s Scarab Kingdom, but the visual presentation is far less impressive in this Aztec-themed follow-up. The features are pretty similar at first glance, but some significant changes have been made.

The original game didn’t come with a Super version of the bonus round, but you get a multiplier that increases by +1 per spin instead. Wild scrolls expand gradually, instead of starting off as fully expanded and shrinking.

Both games come with the same 5,000x potential, but the top-tier RTP is a bit higher in this installment. The Pick Bonus triggers randomly here, while it came from collecting scarabs in the first game. The single spin max win is 300x in the base game, 600x in the bonus round and 1,500x in the super bonus round. Overall, we prefer the original game due to the refreshingly green ancient Egypt presentation, but this sequel is well worth checking out also.
