Gatot Kaca’s Fury Review

Those who follow Pragmatic Play closely enough to also care about their Asian (or in this case more like Indian) releases, may remember Gates of Gatot Kaca from late 2022. Gatot Kaca’s Fury is based around the Gatotkaca character from the Hindu epic Mahabharata, and he is basically a legendary warrior known both for this strength and his wisdom. The great war of Kurukshetra was his last battle, as he got struck by Karna’s arrow.

It’s not too often you see Hindu mythology on display in online slots, but we know that there is a growing market in India for it. Gatot Kaca’s Fury will probably appeal to Hindus more than western players, but it comes with some decent wild-based features. Wilds build the global win multiplier in all stages of the game, and you get sticky wilds in the bonus round. The max win is 5,000x your stake, same as in the first game, and at least it’s not a simple reskin job this time.

The premium symbols pay between 5 and 20 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins, with what we assume is Gatot Kaca as the top-tier symbol. The golden dragon mask Wild symbol appears on reels 2, 3, and 4 only, and it steps in for pay symbols to help complete and/or improve wins.

Each wild adds a random multiplier value of +1, +2, or +3 to the global win multiplier, and all wild multipliers are added together to boost the total win.

You need at least 3 green dragon Scatter symbols in view to trigger the Bonus Round, and you get 3 Mini Reels per triggering scatter. These appear on a new screen to determine how many free spins you get, and each Mini Reel award between 1 and 3 free spins. This means that you get a minimum of 9 free spins per bonus round trigger, and up to 45 free spins can be won if you trigger the feature with 5 scatters.

Each wild adds +1, +2, or +3 to the global win multiplier, and the win multiplier will only keep building for as long as the feature lasts. The multiplier boosts all wins, and you get a Win Guarantee of 10x, 20x, or 30x from 3, 4, or 5 triggering scatters, respectively. If you win less than that in total, you get 1 Mini Reel per initial triggering scatter, and these provide up to 3 extra spins each.

This will keep happening until you’ve breached the minimum win cap.

You can pay 25 % more per spin to turn on the Ante Bet feature between base game spins, and this doubles your bonus round chances. Non-UK players, and anyone eligible, can also take advantage of the Bonus Buy menu. It comes with 3 options in this game. You can pay 100x, 200x, or 300x your stake to trigger the feature with 3, 4, or 5 scatters, respectively.

Review Summary

We have no idea how the original Gates of Gatot Kaca fared, as it hasn’t even registered in our SlotRank system. This should indicate that it has seen moderate success in the west at least, but then again, both installments are aimed at the Indian/Asian markets. While the first game was a Gates of Olympus clone, Gatot Kaca’s Fury takes you on a more original journey to the exotic ancient country. At least you get some new features, somewhat different visuals, but Mr Kaca is not by your side for “moral support” in this sequel.

There is nothing too revolutionary to be seen here, perhaps, but you get a decent multiplier system also in the base game. Each wild builds the total win multiplier, and this can certainly lead to solid payouts in all stages of the game.

Not least in the bonus round, since wilds are sticky and the multiplier never resets, and the overall 5,000x potential is the same as in the first game. We don’t think this follow-up will fare all that much better in the west, but it might do very well in India and Asia for all we know.
