The anthropomorphic animals you may remember from the previous Venice Beach bodybuilder installment, Beast Mode, are back, and you’ll join the rowdy crew on a fishing expedition this time. Worry not, though, as this is nothing like most fishing slots out there.

The game is fast-paced, packed with fun animations and sound bites, and the 6x4 grid is placed in front of a giant fishing net. The Net Gains title is bodybuilder jargon as well, of course, and you get 3 different mystery symbols in the base game (2 of which come with modifier abilities). The 3 bonus rounds keeps things varied as you get a free choice each time, and you can win up to a decent 15,000x your stake (which admittedly is lower than than the 3 previous installments).

The Special Bet feature allows you to pay 20 % more per spin, with the benefit of increasing your bonus round chances by 82 %. The premium symbols pay between 2 and 25 x your stake for 6 of a kind wins, and the shark Wild can land on reels 2 to 6 to help complete wins by stepping in for pay symbols. Winning symbols are removed and replaced via the Cascading mechanic, which allows for indefinite extra wins per round.

The base game comes with 3 different Mystery Symbols, and these work as follows:

• Regular mystery symbols reveal a randomly chosen matching symbol.
• Octopus mystery symbols change all instances of the chosen symbol to mystery symbols.
• Bomb mystery symbols destroy all non-mystery symbols after the initial win.

Mystery symbols are not removed via the cascading mechanic, but instead remain in play as long as the cascading sequence lasts.

If you have collected 2 scatters during a mystery cascade sequence, the all-important 3rd scatter may be revealed by a mystery symbol.

You need to collect 3 scatters in the same cascading sequence to trigger the Bonus Round Choice Screen, and it comes with 3 options: The Sticky Mystery FS round, the Stacked Wilds FS round, and the Coin Collection FS round. You get +2 extra spins from extra spins symbols in all 3, and you can enter “hot mode” at the start of either of the options. This increases your likelihood of landing larger wins.

The Sticky Mystery Bonus Round comes with 5 free spins, and you can land all 3 types of mystery symbols on reels 2 to 6. Each cascading win adds +1 to the meter down to the left, and you win extra free spins per 3rd increment of this meter. In addition, one extra mystery symbol is added at the end of the spin.

The meter does not reset between spins, just to be clear.

The Stacked Wilds Bonus Round comes with 7 free spins, and you get 2 different wilds that can appear on reels 2 to 6 only. The Multiplier Wild comes with multiplier values between x2 and x5, and the Countdown Wild starts with value 3. The counter decreases by 1 for each win it partakes in, and countdown wilds drop to the bottom between spins if not removed. Countdown wilds are removed when included in a win with a value of 1 on display.

The Coin Collection Bonus Round comes with 8 free spins, and you can land coin symbols with the following values:

• Bronze Coins pay between 1x and 40x.
• Silver Coins pay between 3x and 100x.
• Gold Coins pay between 10x and 2,500x.

You need some kind of Collector symbol on reel 6 to collect any coin prizes in view though, and the Persistent Collector remains in place at the bottom of the grid for the duration of the feature. Landing the persistent collector awards +5 extra spins, and landing 4+ coins triggers a feature that stores the coin values as they are removed.

The stored values are paid if you land a collector later in the same cascading sequence. Each coin you land adds +1 to the meter down to the left, and you get +1 extra spins per 10 coins collected. This also increases the value range for each coin type up to 5 times, and you still get extra spins after that. A Coin Rain feature can trigger at random times, which gives you 10 coins of the same value type.

Finally, non-UK players can purchase the bonus round option screen for 100x the stake.

This gives you a choice between the 3 features, and it increases the RTP to 97 %.

Review Summary

Part of the reason this game is so enjoyable is the excellent game flow. There are no boring hiccups, and you can double click to skip animations etc. if you wish. Compared to a regular slot this is a fireworks of action, fun animations, and smooth gameplay.

It’s highly enjoyable to join this rough bunch of animal bodybuilders on their fishing expedition, and Net Gains (genius title, but the way) is the best installment in the Streamer Collaboration Series thus far.

There just isn’t a boring moment to be had here, and the special mystery symbols add a new and innovative dimension to a well-known feature. All 3 bonus rounds are highly entertaining as well, and capable of dishing out 15,000x your stake. This is well below what’s on offer in the 2 previous installments, and that’s the only drawback we can find, really. The 96.1 % RTP is also a tad lower, but it’s hard to complain about anything above 96 % without RTP ranges these days.
