The debut game, Prospector Wild, was a simple Gonzo mechanic release from Prospect Gaming, and we have also seen a Hold & Win version since then. Prospector Wilds Megaways amounts to their Megaways debut, which is a somewhat bold move after having released only 5 games from before. Jumping off the deep end is the best way to learn to swim, perhaps, and Prospector Wilds Megaways is far from the worst Megaways debut we have seen.

The chubby prospector is by your side at all times, and 4 golden canaries can be seen on the right-hand side. We’ve heard of canaries in the coal mine before, and these are supposedly the gold mine version. Anyway, they indicate how close you are to triggering the progressive multiplier bonus round, as that requires 4+ tumbles in a row. The premium symbols pay between 2 and 25 x your stake for 6 of a kind wins, and you can land both types of Wild symbols on reels 2 to 6 only. Both wilds have the core function of substituting for pay symbols to help complete and/or improve wins, and they hold no value of their own in this game.

However, the x2 multiplier wild will also boost any win it partakes in, and you can get up to 3 multiplier wilds per spin.

If more than one multiplier wild is part of the same win, the multipliers are multiplied together before being applied. The multiplier wild cannot appear in the bonus round, however.

All winning symbols are removed via the Tumble mechanic, and the gaps are then filled by new and/or existing symbols dropping down from above. This process repeats for as long as your winning streak lasts, and this feature is active both in the base game and in the bonus round.

Speaking of, you need to land 4+ consecutive Tumble wins to trigger the Bonus Round, and the minimum of 4 tumbles in a row awards 8 free spins. You get +2 additional free spins on top of that per additional tumble above the minimum, and up to 14 free spins is the most you can get. You can retrigger the feature to win extra spins the same way.

The progressive win multiplier starts at x1, and it increases by +1 per tumble win.

The win multiplier never resets for the duration of the feature. Also, any reel that maxes out with 7 positions remains that way for the remainder of the feature. Each locked maxed out reel awards +1 to the win multiplier also, as well as +1 extra spin when you run out of free spins.

There can be no doubt that Prospect Gaming is a fan of the gold mining slot genre, and Prospector Wilds Megaways builds on their debut release simply called Prospector Wilds. This is at least the case if you consider the audiovisuals, with the charming prospector who looks like a scarecrow keeping you company once again. The visual style is a bit on the eccentric side, which we don’t mind, and the gameplay isn’t overly complicated in this Megaways debut either.

You’ll benefit from wilds and multiplier wilds that multiply together for up to x8 boosts, but the latter is reserved for the base game only for some reason.

Getting more than 3 tumbles in a row obviously doesn’t happen all that often, as this triggers the bonus round. It comes with the common progressive multiplier system, and the less common locked maxed out reels system. We have no complaints about the 25,000x potential, but this is not the most daring Megaways debut we have seen either.
