Time has been a mysterious thing ever since a certain Einstein messed up our whole perception of it with his infamous ‘theory of relativity’. We’ve seen numerous developers play with the concept of time, and not least Hacksaw themselves with their classical antiquity installment, Itero. Time Spinners plays out in a haunted medieval castle, with computer game inspired visuals.

The mysterious time-traveling ghost is lurking in the corridors, and this is the first release we’ve seen from Hacksaw that mixes a sinister vibe with bright and cozy symbols. They are usually extremely dualistic, with either grim/dark or bright/joyful releases. The multiplier features are typical for Hacksaw, albeit done in an original way, and the 10,000x potential is solid as usual.

The premium symbols pay between 5 and 20 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins, and Wilds step in for pay symbols to help complete wins on all 5 reels. The wild also pays 20x your stake if you line up 5 on a payline, but it does not pay for anything less than 5-oak.

Review Summary

We’re unsure if the brightly colored symbols are a good match for an otherwise dark and somewhat sinister theme. Hacksaw is usually extremely consistent with their presentation, as they’re either grim and dark or lighthearted and happy. Time Spinners comes across as a somewhat confused mix between the two extremes we’ve become accustomed to, but we understand the sentiment of wanting to blend and experiment with new expressions.

The multiplier wilds can do damage also in the base game, and they are needed to land anything significant. We’ve seen 2-phased bonus rounds before from this developer, and it’s kind of fun to prepare to cash in via the accumulation phase. It’s equally frustrating when things don’t go your way, of course.

The 10,000x potential is solid as usual from Hacksaw, but we’re afraid time will spin this one into the memory hole sooner than usual.
