Fire and Roses Joker Review

Many times it’s hard to tell whether the Joker character is male or female, and this androgynous ambiguity is probably part of the “joke”. We have to pin her down as female in Fire and Roses Joker from Triple Edge Studios, however, and we believe most players would agree. She’s standing on the left-hand side with a burning rose in her hand, seemingly trying to offer you this thing as a gift of some kind.

We would prefer a solid payouts instead to be honest, and up to 5,000x your stake is possible in several different ways. You will increase the reel-specific jackpots by landing Jackpot Trigger tokens, and these will sometimes trigger the win guarantee Jackpot Wheel. Prizes up to 5,000x are possible, but the big one starts at 1,000x. You also increase the bonus round starting multiplier by collecting near-miss scatters. It can go as high as x10 and build to x15 in the feature, and joker fans might enjoy what’s on offer here.

Fire and Roses Joker Slot Features

The premium symbols pay between 2 and 8 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins, and the Joker Wild steps in for pay symbols to help complete and/or improve wins.

Fire and Roses Joker Slot Gameplay

The Joker Wild can land on reels 2, 3, and 4 only, and it cannot substitute for scatters or jackpot trigger symbols. The wild also does not hold any value of its own, like is sometimes the case.

The Jackpot Trigger symbols appear as overlay tokens on other symbols, and they can land on all 5 reels. Each reel has a jackpot associated with it, and the jackpot trigger token increases the relevant jackpot each time it appears. Each time you land at least one jackpot trigger symbol in view there is a chance you’ll trigger the Jackpot feature.

Fire and Roses Joker Slot - Jackpot Wheel

The Jackpot Trigger symbol will trigger the Jackpot Wheel feature at random times, and it comes with 5 jackpots. The jackpots are saved between bet levels, which is good to know, and you are guaranteed to win 1 of the 5 jackpots each time this feature triggers.

This resets the relevant jackpot to its seed level. Here is an overview of how it works:

  • Mini Jackpot - seeds at 5x the stake (maxes out at 75x the stake)
  • Minor Jackpot - seeds at 10x the stake (maxes out at 100x the stake)
  • Major Jackpot - seeds at 50x the stake (max 250x the stake)
  • Mega Jackpot - seeds at 200x the stake (max 1,000x the stake)
  • Ultra Jackpot - seeds at 1,000x the stake (max 5,000x the stake)

When you land scatter symbols on exactly 4 reels, you increase the bonus round multiplier by +0.5, and it can go up to x10 at the most. You need one scatter on all 5 reels to trigger the Bonus Round (spelling out J-O-K-E-R), and you start with a minimum of 6 free spins.

Landing scatters on a free spin awards either an extra spin or an upgrade to the win multiplier. You can add up to +5 to the multiplier from a single scatter, and it can now go as high as x15. Landing a scatter on all 5 reels, once again spelling out J-O-K-E-R, retriggers the feature with the same amount of free spins that you got initially.

Review Summary

At least in this game it’s hard to deny that the Joker is female, although in this day and age even supreme court judges dare not define what “a woman” is. Still, the feeling we got when we first laid eyes on Fire and Roses Joker wasn’t exactly bubbling enthusiasm. The grid has a somewhat unusual shape, but other than that we got the sense that we have seen similar things many times before. This is not uncommon with a theme like this, so we had to dig deeper to come to our conclusion.

The Jackpot Trigger system is a decent motivator to keep you going, but you still have to enjoy this kind of game to bother after a while.

It can take a good while to max out the top-tier jackpots, and not least the Ultra jackpot. In a similar way, the base game grind keeps adding to your next bonus round multiplier, and we like that you can continue adding to it after the feature starts. Up to x15 is as high as it goes though, but it’s more than enough to possibly crack the 5,000x win cap. Overall, Fire and Roses Joker is nothing too memorable, but a decent shelf-filler nonetheless.

Pros

  • The 5 jackpots increase per Trigger symbol
