Raging Rex 2 Review

Apparently, the meteor scatters from the original Raging Rex was not enough to trigger an extinction level event, and this time the raging T-Rex has become a parent predator. The visuals are somewhat upgraded, or at least the setting is new, and you get plenty of impressive dinosaur animations. Everything has been enhanced basically, and not least the 30,000x potential.

Instead of just the lone Rex Wild walking to the left in the Respins feature, he’s now potentially joined by regular-sized Hatchling Wilds. You get the 2 bonus rounds you may know from the first game, in addition to a third option that combines the best from both of them. Play’n Go has played it somewhat safe with this sequel perhaps, but there is more than enough here to please both fans and newcomers.

The 4 dinosaur premium symbols - the pachycephalosaurus, stegosaurus, brachiosaurus and ankylosaurus - pay between 4 and 6 x your stake for 6 matching symbols on a payline. You also get the Hatchling Wild symbol, which steps in for regular pay symbols to help complete wins, and the same goes for the expanded 1x4 Rex Wild.

The Respins feature triggers when the Rex Wild lands fully in view, and the Rex Wild will then move one reel to the left per respin. Any present Hatchling Wilds will also remain in place, moving either in front of or behind the Rex Wild.

You can get up to 5 respins, and the feature ends when Rex walks off the grid.

Review Summary

Play’n Go has not revolutionized the original release in any way, but Raging Rex 2 is still a very solid sequel. Having the Hatchling Wilds move together with the fully stacked Rex Wild in the Respins round is both cute and clever, and it can certainly do damage as well.

Visually, the game is similar, yet different, and dragonflies still buzz around the grid seemingly curious to what is going on.

The Hatchling Mania feature comes with potential multiplier wilds that can combine up to x243, making it a more volatile and potentially lucrative option than the moving Rex wild Primal Fury round. The Mayhem round is brand new, and it combines the best from both worlds. What makes this follow-up the obvious better choice however, is the massively upgraded 30,000x potential. Fans of the original will have no trouble embracing this sequel, although we do miss the meteor scatters from the first game.
