This is pretty much what Gold Coin Studios has done with Fishing Floats of Cash, as it is the second reskin of the original Fiona’s Fortune (if you count the Xmas version). The Irish charm has been replaced by a beer-drinking American fisherman from the deep south, but everything else remains the same.

You’re taken to a peaceful lake filled with trouts, and they appear as stacked wilds on the reels. The Express Collect feature is clearly inspired by the original Fishin’ Frenzy, and it can land you decent prizes up to 400x your stake. The prizes increase in value in the bonus round, and the main attraction is the Link&Win feature that comes with a 5,000x full grid jackpot. A bonus wheel can also trigger to land you cash prizes, among other things.

Fishing Floats of Cash Slot Features

The premium symbols pay between 6 and 8 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins, and the fisherman Wild steps in for pay symbols to help complete wins. The wild does not hold any value of its own, however, and it can appear on reels 2 to 5 only.

The Express Collect buoy cash symbols can land on reels 1 to 4 only, and they come with random cash prizes between 1x and 200x your stake. You need the bucket Collect symbol on reel 5 to collect these cash prizes, and you can also collect Mini and Major prizes of 20x to 400x your stake.

Review Summary

As much as we enjoy a cozy fishing expedition once in a while, we prefer the original Irish charm of Fiona’s Fortune over this reskin job. Fishing Floats of Cash is trying to cash in on the fishing slot hype, but Gold Coin Studios has not poured any effort into making this release unique, original, or memorable. Sure, it comes with decent features, and the fishing visuals are nicely done, but you can sense that there is no soul involved.

You just go through the motions, which may be enough for new players, so the game works in that regard. The thick southern American accent adds a bit of charm to the action commentary though, but again, we prefer Fiona’s sweet voice over this. You can win up to 5,000x your stake in different ways, which is nice, but the free spins round could do with some more extras to spice things up. Overall, a decent reskin job, but Gold Coin Studios would do better adding original installments to their moderate catalog.
