Madame Ink Review

Madame Ink is a brand new tattoo-inspired slot from Play'n Go. While tattoos are an extremely popular way of self-expressing, Play'n Go gives players a chance to make wealth from what other people have inked on their bodies. With an immensely stylish theme, exciting features, and a top prize of 5,000x of the bet, Madame Ink seems to be a pretty promising slot, so let's take a closer look.

Madame Ink - Slot Outlook

What catches the eye once in the game is the unusual design. It doesn't drastically differ from what can be found in other tattoo-styled slots, like Hot Ink from Microgaming or Ultimate Ink from WMS, just to give two examples. Here, Play'n Go opted for Asian looks, so the 5x3 grid is set in a backdrop of a mysterious dark Chinese-styled chamber. It doesn't look like a tattoo studio for sure, but honestly creates a feeling like some kind of illegal business is held here, according to what Asian thrillers usually show. Anyway, Madame Ink boasts exceptional graphics for as always, the developers stick to the meticulous approach when it comes to the game's appearance, making it aesthetically perfect.

Madame Ink Reel Screen

Playable on any device, it comes with an all-ways pay system, so players will have 243 ways to play, meaning that all adjacent symbols starting from the leftmost reel pay. Oddly enough, Madame Ink is powered by a medium volatile math model, rated by the developer 5 out of 10, which is quite unusual for Play'n Go, thereby hinting that it's aimed at capturing a wider audience.

The rest of the figures are way more traditional and comply with the developer's standard values. As always, be sure to c check the stats before depositing since Madame Ink comes with ranging RTP values. 96.23% is claimed to be set by default, though, operators are more likely to choose a 94.23% version. Offering players to place wagers from 0.1$ to 100$ per spin, the slot boasts a 5,000x maximum potential, which is Play'n Go's standard.

The symbol collection is a set of 8 regular symbols, split into highs and lows. The pay symbols start at the lower end with tattoo-styled card suits, which are followed by Chinese culture-inspired tattoos, such as herons, masks, tigers, and dragons.

The payouts aren't too high for a full line of premiums is worth from 2x to 5x of the bet.

Madame Ink - Bonus Features

You won't find anything new in terms of in-game extras in Madame Ink, though, the features can really enliven the gameplay and, most importantly, lead to great payouts. Peeking under the hood of Play'n Go's brainchild reveals three bonus features, including Mystery Reels, Wild Ink feature, and Free Spins.

On any spin during the game, Mystery Symbols can land on any position on the grid to transform into the same instance of a random symbol. Moreover, at random Madame's Mystery Reel can come into play and appear on the middle reel to transform into a stack of a randomly-chosen premium symbol. All other Mystery symbols will also transform into that high-paying symbol.

Besides acting as substitutes for any other regular symbols, Wilds in Madame Ink can also expand at random after appearing in view during both the base and the bonus games. This is called the Wild Ink feature. Whenever it lands onto the grid, there's a chance that the Wild symbol expands to cover the entire reel, making it Wild.

Last and the most desired feature is Free Spins. Should 3 or more Scatters appear anywhere on the reel set, players will proceed to a mode selection, providing 3 options to choose:

  • 3 Free Spins with both Madame's Mystery Reel, available on any spin, and Wild Ink feature, which comes into play whenever a Wild symbol lands.
  • 6 Free Spins with Madame's Mystery Reel feature available.
  • 12 Free Spins with Wild Ink feature available when any Wild symbol lands.

Madame Ink - Slot Verdict

Not to say that Madame Ink manages to provide a unique gaming experience, though, it doesn't really fail to be fairly enjoyable. Still, it's the main advantage, that makes it stick out from a pile of Asian-themed slots is the unique setting, which is likely to become a breath of fresh air for those who are sick of playing identical slots.

The same cannot be said about the gameplay though.

Madame Ink Slot Review 1385

As alluded to earlier, there are no novelties included, however, the features work well paired and can provide some tasty wins. Landing a Mystery Reel, which in turn transforms into expanding Wilds is a challenging task for sure, though, it can theoretically happen and result in a massive payout. On the other hand, the Free Spins feature leaves much to be desired for players are forced to sacrifice a lot of spins for a chance to land something big, or opt for more free spins, but missing one of the features.

Anyway, Madame Ink reveals a new way of depicting Chinese culture, and thereby we have to pay credits to Play'n Go. Even though it struggles to offer anything truly stunning, it's well worth a try in case you're OK with relatively low volatility and straightforward gameplay.

Madame Ink is one of those ink-redible themes that are not so worn out. It has fairly normal yet rewarding features that fit in right at home with the entire theme and the design of the game.
