Pirate Golden Age Slot Review, Demo Play, Payout, Free Spins & Bonuses

Pirate Golden Age is a volatile buccaneer slot from Pragmatic Play, and it plays out on 5x3 reels with 20 paylines. The base game is about as barebones as they come, but you get wilds and regular wins up to 150x your stake. The bonus round comes with a mystery symbol accumulation and release system, and the overall max win is 3,000x your stake. Check our full review below the free demo game.

Pirate Golden Age Review

The pirate slot genre is filled with adventurous and entertaining releases, but sometimes developers will dress up a mediocre concept in pirate garms to compensate. This is how Pragmatic Play’s Pirate Golden Age seems to us, and it comes with no base game features and an uninspired math model that will hardly impress any experienced punters.

There is something uninspired over the whole thing actually, from the more or less static symbols to the annoying soundtrack. The treasure island backdrop is decent though, but most of it is hidden behind the pitch black grid. You get a bonus round with a somewhat innovative mystery symbol accumulation system, and the 3,000x potential is as mediocre as the game itself.

Pirate Golden Age Slot Features

The premium symbols pay between 6.25 and 7.5 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins, and the pirate skull Wild steps in for pay symbols to help complete wins. The wild symbol pays the same as the top-tier pirate captain symbol if you land pure wild wins. The base game comes with no other bonus features.

The Bonus Round triggers when you land 3+ bonus symbols on the same base game spin, and you win 2x, 20x or 200x your stake from 3, 4 or 5 scatters in view, respectively. You start with 7 free spins either way, and you get a golden mystery symbol during the feature.

All mystery symbols turn into the same random symbol, and they are collected between free spins.

The collected mystery symbols are then randomly placed on the grid for the next spin, and mystery symbols can land on top of each other to generate a multiplier. The multiplier equals the number of mystery symbols on any given position, and multiplier values are added together if more than one is part of the same win. You get 1, 2 or 3 extra spins for every 5 accumulated mystery symbols.

The 200 Spins Pirate Golden Age Slot Experience

We had an okay time testing Pirate Golden Age from Pragmatic Play, but we weren’t overly impressed to be honest. Anyway, we have still created a brief and edited highlights video you can check out below, and it comes with only the best moments from our 200 spins test session.

Review Summary

Pragmatic Play has a busy schedule to fill with new releases, and we understand the temptation to churn out a mediocre pirate-themed slot and call it a day. This is exactly how Pirate Golden Age came across to us at least, and it’s got shelf-filler written all over it.

Pirate Golden Age Slot Pic 5

The base game is a tedious grind with no extras to liven things up, and after a while you wish the grid was transparent so more of the backdrop was visible.

The game lacks spark, creativity and punch, and it’s as far from a swashbuckling and daring adventure as a pirate slot can be. At least add mystery symbols also to the base game to give people a teaser of what’s to come in the bonus round, but no, there is nothing. They do their thing in the bonus round though, but the 3,000x potential is hardly enough to keep anyone engaged for very long with this release.

Pros

  • Base game with wilds
  • FS w/ accumulating mystery symbols
  • Win up to 3,000x your stake

Cons

  • Adjustable RTP ranges
  • No base game features

Reef Raider - is a medium volatile pirate release from NetEnt, and it comes with a 7x7 cluster pays grid. The pirate crab moves around the grid frame to trigger modifiers, and eventually the bonus round. The feature comes with growing overlay mystery symbols and an 8,500x potential.

Pirate Pays Megaways - is a pirate release with the dynamic grid engine Big Time Gaming is so famous for, and it comes with a bottom extra reel and up to 117,649 win ways. The compass wild turns symbols wild in the direction of the needle, and you can win up to 104,400x your stake via the unlimited progressive multiplier bonus round.

Pirate Gold Deluxe - is a volatile follow-up release from Pragmatic Play, and this buccaneer slot comes with 5x4 reels with 40 win ways. The Hold & Win round is the main attraction, and it comes with 3 special symbols and a solid 15,000x potential.
