Belatra Games are a pretty reasonable slot studio that’s capable of coming up with some really interesting games, so we were happy to hear about the release of a game called Crystals Digger. Is it any good, though, or is it actually a slot that you should feel free to skip. Well, we’ll answer that question in this review, and we’ll start by examining the game’s playing field. Thematically, Crystals Digger is all about going underground and digging for some valuable crystals and stones. It’s a fairly traditional theme, really, but we have to give a lot of credit to the designers, as the game’s graphics are colorful and gorgeous. It’s a very polished package overall, and it certainly makes for a pleasant experience overall.

Crystals Digger Slot Features

There are 9 regular pay symbols in Crystals Digger, split into 4 low pays and 5 high pays. For the former, there are stone-like card ranks from Jacks to Aces, while the latter show more intricate gems and crystals. The symbols are all well-designed, and you can get some splendid wins if you find them in larger numbers. While you have to get at least 8 matching symbols to get a payout, there are bigger wins available for sets of 10+ and 12+ matching symbols.

There aren’t any Wild symbols in Crystals Digger, but there are Crate Scatters that can land anywhere on the board and that can trigger some free spins.

Kicking off the gameplay, there are Cascades, which means that winning symbols get automatically removed and replaced with new ones as the given spin progresses.

To get to the Free Spins feature, you have to get 4 or more Crate Scatters anywhere in view. That will net you 10 free spins in total, and you can get 5 extra free spins by landing a set of 3 or more Crate Scatters during a free spin. This can net you up to 300 free spins in total if you get lucky.

During free spins, you get access to special Bomb Multipliers that can appear anywhere on the field and show win multipliers of 2x, 5x, 8x, 10x, 15x, 20x, 50x, or 100x. At the end of each free spin, you’ll get your win multiplied by the sum of all Bomb Multipliers in view, which can lead to some serious wins.

Review Summary

At the end of the day, Crystals Digger is a nice enough slot with one huge flaw in its dreadfully low theoretical RTP that’s well below the current industry standard. It’s a shame, really, as the experience is rather good otherwise, and the inclusion of a stand-alone progressive jackpot adds a bit of excitement to the entire ordeal.
