Kilauea is a highly active volcano in the Hawaiian Islands complex, and it emerged above sea level around 100,000 years ago. The last eruption was in September 2021, and in PearFiction’s Treasures of Kilauea it has even learned how to talk. It sits in the background apparently paying close attention to what happens on the reels, and it erupts every 50 spins. This provides extra wilds and possible multiplier wilds to the regular 10 spin wild cycle.

That’s right, wild frames turn wild every 10 spins, which usually provide smaller top-up wins. Larger wins are not possible without multiplier wilds actually, at least not in the base game. It works as follows:

• 3 scatters awards 15 FS with 5 wilds, 10 FS with 7 wilds or 5 FS with 10 wilds.
• 4 scatters awards 30 FS with 5 wilds, 20 FS with 7 wilds or 10 FS with 10 wilds.

You can retrigger the bonus round as well, and this gives you the same amount of additional spins as you chose in the first place. Wilds are added to random positions per spin.

The top horizontal sliding reel comes with a golden frame in the middle position, and you trigger the Jackpot feature when an idol symbol lands in the frame. The jackpot wheel will then spin to award 1 of 5 possible jackpots, and these pay 18x (Micro), 30x (Mini), 100x (Minor), 500x (Major) and 5,000x (Mega) your stake, respectively.

Review Summary

We’ve seen the 10-spin wild cycle in plenty of games before, but PearFiction has wisely included a 50-spin cycle to top things off in a more spectacular way. The regular cycle landed us 5x to 10x wins most of the time though, so keeping afloat didn’t seem all that hard. Things can heat up a bit if you’re lucky enough to get some x2 multiplier wilds on the Eruption Spin, so there is always something to look forward to.

This is a decent motivator to keep you going, and it breaks up the base game grind on a regular basis. The low symbol values keep a lid on things however, as a top-tier full screen win is only worth 48x your stake with no wild multiplier action.

Getting random wilds in the bonus round is fine, but you will most likely need the Mega jackpot to crack the 5,000x potential. Still, we found Treasures of Kilauea to be entertaining, but higher symbol values would’ve gone a long way.
