Swintt have been around for quite a while now, and it’s fair to say that they are one of the more active studios on the scene as well. Despite that, the team is yet to achieve its first main breakthrough, and we’ve had our own complaints about many of our releases before. Have things changed with Aqua Lord, or is it more of the same. Well, it’s certainly one of the most complex releases from Swintt so far, so let’s take a closer look at everything it offers. To kick things off, the playing field of Aqua Lord has 5 reels, 3 rows and just 5 paylines, which is very classic indeed.

The theme of Aqua Lord will take you underwater, and the symbols certainly are very colorful. We would say that the production values are only average overall, however, and the game’s atmosphere certainly isn’t as good as we’d like it to be. It’s nothing bad, to be clear, but it’s nothing that would excite us.

The volatility level of Aqua Lord is low, but you can win up to 5,000x your bet if you get lucky, which is fair enough.

There are 9 pay symbols in Aqua Lord, and it’s possible to divide them into 5 low pays and 4 high pays. For low pays, there are card ranks from Tens to Aces, and these symbols pay up to 30x your bet for a five-of-a-kind combination. For high pays, there are bracelets, vases, dolphins, and Poseidons.

It’s worth noting that high pays pay out even in sets of two, and that a full combination of Poseidon symbols will give you a nice 1,000x win. Given that, it’s quite easy to see how you can reach the slot’s 5,000x jackpot – just get a full set of Poseidon symbols on each of the available 5 paylines!

In terms of special symbols, there are Book symbols and Pearl symbols. Book symbols work as both Wilds and Scatters, while Pearl symbols trigger the Pearl feature.

If you land 3 or more Book symbols on the field, you’ll trigger the Free Spins feature, which is fully in the spirit of “Book of” slots. You’ll get 10 free spins to start with, and one of the pay symbols will be chosen at random at the start of the feature. All of its instances will then work as typical Expanding Symbols (though they’re called Lucky Symbols in this release), which means that they will be able to expand to cover entire reels and pay out even when not adjacent to each other.

Next, there’s the Pearl feature, which you can trigger by landing 3 or more Pearl symbols on the board and which works essentially like a Hold and Win feature. You’ll get 3 respins to start with, and each new symbol will reset the respins tally back to 3. At the end of the feature, all Pearl symbols will be collected, and their values will be added to your bankroll. Each Pearl symbol is worth between 1x and 150x your bet.

Finally, you can try to increase your winnings with the Gamble feature, which is all about guessing the color or the suit of a face-down card.

Guess right, and you’ll double or even quadruple your stake. Guess wrong, though, and you’ll have to walk away empty-handed.

Review Summary

All in all, Swintt decided to put together a game with both “Book of” free spins and its own basic Hold and Win feature. Its gameplay is fine, but we have some issues with the game’s math model, which comes with only poor RTP values. We’ve also all seen things like this before, and the game’s audiovisuals aren’t good enough for us to be able to like the slot on that basis alone. The bottom line is that this is yet another mediocre Swintt slot, so the team’s breakthrough will have to wait for another occasion.
