The original Reactoonz was a milestone not only for Play’n Go, but for the cluster pays grid slot genre in general. The productive developer has since followed up the success with Reactoonz 2 and Dr Toonz, but none of these efforts have dethroned the original so far. Gigantoonz is closer to the first game than the 2 previous installments, and it comes across as more streamlined and less complicated, which fans may appreciate.

Visually, it’s very similar however, but the grid has been expanded to 8x8, and you now get up to 7x7 mega symbols on a regular basis. These mega symbols can charge the Quantumeter with up to +13 per symbol, and the meter dishes out 3 regular modifiers, plus a Gigantoon Mega Wilds modifier that tops things off in a 2 step process. The 4,000x potential is a tad disappointing, as it’s the lowest in the series so far.

You’ve got 5 one-eyed Toonz as the low-paying symbols, and 5 two-eyed Toonz as the premium symbols, and they all pay when 6 to 30+ matching symbols land in a cluster anywhere on the 8x8 grid. The premium Toonz’ pay between 50 and 1,250 x your stake for 30+ in a cluster, and all winning symbols are removed and replaced by new and/or existing symbols via the Cascading Wins feature. This process repeats indefinitely as long as you’re winning.

Mega Symbols land frequently, and they come in sizes between 2x2 and 7x7.

They count as a single symbol in winning combinations however, but the ‘cluster value’ is determined by a random number up to 13. Mega symbols leave Quantum Wild symbols behind when removed via the cascading feature, and if they cannot drop further down they turn into regular 1x1 symbols.

You may get between 5 to 10 Quantum Wilds on random non-winning spins, and these are spread randomly across the grid. Wild steps in for all pay symbols to help complete winning clusters, but they hold no value of their own.

All winning symbols charge the Quantumeter seen on the right-hand side, and all regular symbols count as 1 charge. The Mega symbols count as their cluster value however, and getting the meter to 100 charges in a single cascading sequence awards 4 modifiers in chronological order. We’ll start with the first 3 modifiers, as the last one requires special attention:

• Disintegration (25 charges collected) - remove all instances of 4 symbols selected randomly.
• Metamorphosis (50 charges collected) - all instances of a randomly selected symbol are transformed into a different symbol type (mega symbols included).
• Radiation (75 charges collected) - adds 1 to 4 mega symbols and 2 to 5 Quantum Wilds randomly to the grid.

When you fill the Quantumeter with 100 charges, the 3-eyed Gargantoon Wild that’s half-asleep above the Quantumeter finally wakes up, as it’s definitely his time to shine.

The Gargantoonz Modifier plays out in 2 steps as follows:

• Step 1 - turns all mega symbols into mega Gargantoon wilds, but you get at least 3 Gargantoon mega wilds no matter what. In addition, you also get 2-4 regular sized 1x1 Gargantoon wilds. The Mega Gargantoonz are not removed when part of a win.
• Step 2 - the mega Gargantoon wilds break down to 1x1 sized symbols, and these are then removed via the cascading wins feature like regular symbols.

While the previous follow-up installments complicated things a bit in comparison to the smash hit original, Play’n Go has gone back to the basics with Gigantoonz. The big difference, of course, is the mega symbols that come with random cluster values, and these can be quite useful when it comes to charging the Quantumeter. Most of the time you’ll get the 1 or 2 first modifiers, but tension does rise when you get close to unleashing the Gigantoon Mega Wilds.

The 3 regular modifiers can make a solid dent, as they keep your cascading winning streak going, and it’s bound to end with a bang if you reach 100 charges in the meter.

The announced 4,000x potential seems unnecessary low, but Play’n Go has upped the ante on previous occasions, not least with Reactoonz 2. Fans of the original have a solid alternative with Gigantoonz, and the max win probability is a decent 1 in 4,850,000.
