We have definitely seen the same blueprint many times before, but Triple Edge Studios somehow still managed to keep us engaged for a good while with this game. Scarab Cash Megaways is a somewhat strange mix of ancient Egypt, gems, and classic slot vibes, and the brick and mortar charm shines through in both the sound effects and the way the reels snap into place per spin. It adds up to a satisfying experience, not least when the Rolling Reels kick in.

There was something about the way the symbols explode, the excellent pace, and the sound effects that just managed to captivate us. You get a top horizontal reel that can provide wilds, and these are collected to randomly trigger the Jackpot Pick Game. The second thing to look forward to is the progressive multiplier bonus round, but the overall win cap of 5,000x might not go down too well with some players. We still recommend a closer look though, not least if you enjoy the nostalgia of classic slot machines.

The premium gemstone symbols pay either 2 or 7.5 x your stake for 6 of a kind wins, and the top-tier diamond with a golden cross pays 50x your stake for the same. You need 4 blinged up scatters that spell out C-A-S-H to trigger the Bonus Round, and this gives you 12 free spins. You get +5 additional free spins on top of that per additional triggering scatter.

The bonus round comes with a progressive win multiplier that starts at x1, and it increases by +1 per Rolling Reels win. You win +5 or +10 extra spins if you slide in either 3 or 4 scatters on the top horizontal reel during the feature.

Review Summary

We enjoyed the classic vibe this release comes with, and it’s only accentuated by the ‘modern’ Megaways engine. The pace is excellent with the turbo switched on, and you get nostalgic sound effects as the reels snap into place one by one. The sound effect when winning symbols explode is also highly satisfying, and the same can be said about the way banknotes are flying each time the cashroll Wild symbol is collected in the diamond disco ball thing to the left.

That being said, the actual gameplay and the features aren’t all that original, but the enjoyable packaging goes a long way. The Jackpot Pick Game rewards loyalty, and it’s a decent, albeit common, motivator to keep you going. The bonus round comes with the standard progressive multiplier system, and it’s a bit surprising that Triple Edge Studios have decided to cap the max win at only 5,000x. This is half of what most people expect from this engine, but it may be worth checking out if you’re in a nostalgic mood or just want a classic experience.
