Every developer will sooner or later get around to releasing a mining slot, and Dynamite Strike is Hurricane Games’ first stab at the highly popular genre. It’s not a bad effort at all, and it sticks out from the get-go with its 1-3-5-3-1 grid. Blocker tiles are removed via the win re-spin feature, increasing the number of win ways and revealing cash prize carts and carts that add to the win multiplier.

This is enough to give you a highly dynamic and entertaining base game, and solid payouts are possible in all stages. Clear all the blocker tiles to max out the 5x5 grid with 3,125 win ways, which triggers a bonus round where the carried over multiplier keeps building per spin. An actual prospector is conspicuously absent in this release however, giving the game less personality than many competitors.

The premium symbols, consisting of gemstones embedded in plates of gold, pay between 2 and 10 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins. The pay ways system means 3+ matching symbols from the uttermost left to the right on adjacent reels is a winner regardless of row position. The detonator Wild can appear on reels 2-5 only, and it steps in for all pay symbols to help complete wins.

Turning on the Super Stake ante bet (2x your regular bet) removes all duff/blank carts, which means only cash and multiplier carts are revealed behind dynamited blocker cells.

Each win triggers a re-spin, and each respin removes 2 blocker tiles. This not only increases the number of win ways, but it also reveals 1 of 3 cart symbols (or 1 of 2 with the Super Stake turned on):

• Multiplier Cart - increases the win multiplier by +1, and the multiplier applies to the next respin.
• Coin Cart - adds a random cash prize to the total win.

You get 5 free spins, and the base game multiplier you’ve racked up is carried over into the feature.

The 5x5 grid is fully unlocked during the whole bonus round, giving you 3,125 ways to win. The win multiplier increases by +1 per free spin, and wild symbols are collected in the meter above the grid.

The mining slot genre is a tough niche to compete in, and we’re unsure if Dynamite Strike has what it takes to go all the way to the top. It’s still a decent enough installment though, not least for a first attempt, and the win re-spins system keeps the base game quite interesting. The Super Strike ante bet doesn’t really affect your bonus round chances in this game, so we’re unsure whether or not it’s worth paying double per spin for.

It can certainly help build up a better multiplier to bring with you into the bonus round though, which can help you close in on the solid 5,468x potential. Getting extra spins is also kind of crucial, not least since the multiplier keeps increasing per free spin. Hurricane has combined many tried and tested elements in a somewhat unique way, making Dynamite Strike a highly playable and entertaining trip down the mining shaft.
