Despite their rather ‘cool’ name, Masters Of Valhalla is actually the first release from Snowborn featuring a winter theme with a snow-filled backdrop. The cartoonish visual style is done in a unique and pleasing way, with Odin’s two ravens sitting in the foreground, guarding the portal into the ‘hall of the slain’. Wilds are collected to trigger a Wild God Respin with up to 19 extra wilds and symbol transformation at random times, keeping you on your toes in the base game.

The big attraction however, is the Money Train 2-inspired Valhalla Bonus Round, and filling the Berserk Booster Meter resets the spin tally to 4 instead of 3 during the feature. Although the Norse mythology theme is quite common, we like the cartoonish style Snowborn has gone with in Masters Of Valhalla. The gameplay is smooth all the way, with plenty of engaging visual effects.

The Berserk Booster collect system is perhaps the most innovative thing about this release though, giving you something in return for lengthy grinding sessions. Resetting to 4 spins instead of 3 might not seem like all that, but it can make or break a bonus round session.

The 4 different norse god Wild Respin features spice up the base game, sure, but we wouldn’t have minded some kind of unique modifier for each god. Up to 19 wilds can certainly make a dent though, not least combined with plenty of transformed symbols. Masters Of Valhalla cannot escape the Money Train 2 copycat stamp, of course, but we much prefer an installment like this to the run-of-the-mill hold & win efforts we see plenty of every month. Fans of Norse mythology now have a viable MT2 alternative, with a decent 20,000x potential to boot.
