The Green Flaming Chilli splits all the symbols on the reel it lands on, including itself. This increases the number of symbols to 6 for the affected reel or reels, which again increases the number of win ways. The green chilli then acts as a wild, which means it steps in for pay symbols to help complete wins. Everything resets on the next spin.

The Red Flaming Chilli does something similar to the green chilli, but it creates 7 positions on its reel instead of 6.

The 3 positions that were there from before drop to the bottom, and 4 new positions are created on top. The red chilli then acts as a wild, while adding +2 to the global win multiplier for that spin. Everything resets on the next spin.

The Bonus Round triggers when you land 3, 4, 5 or 6 scatters in view, and this awards 12, 16, 20 or 24 free spins, respectively. You can choose to gamble for more free spins up front if you wish, and this happens on a green and red segmented wheel. You risk losing the whole feature if you do, so be careful.

The big difference in the bonus round is that the red chilli will award a global win multiplier between x2 and x100 (it still resets between spins though). The Mexicana presentation is nothing too extraordinary perhaps, but it comes with a charming soundtrack and colorful visuals. The pace of the game is pleasant with the turbo switched on, and the 2 reel-expanding chilli wild features is a somewhat innovative touch. You can get up to 117,649 win ways at best, which is the usual number for Megaways games, and it helps keep the base game more varied and interesting.

The multiplier is somewhat limited in the base game though, as red chilli wilds only add +2 per wild. It’s rare to see more than one chilli wild at the same time also, but decent payouts are still possible due to the large number of default and possible win ways. Larger wins are still most likely from a larger red chilli multiplier in the bonus round though, and we certainly have no complaints about the 30,000x potential.
